Company: How to create a payroll setup (Nigeria)

We are going to show you how a company can create a new payroll setup. 


  1. Head across to the Payroll Setups tab
  2. Go to the top right, just click Add Payroll Setup.
  3. This will take you to your setup page
  4. choose your payroll country (this is important as it's configured for that country
  5. Give a name to your payroll. Since you can have multiple payroll set ups, this helps you distinguish them between the other ones. 
  6. Add a payroll schedule. Currently we're only using monthly
  7. Then choose a pro rata salary calculation method - 
    1. Business days in salary month (typically monday to friday) 
    2. Specific number of days (if you want to calculate pay based on specific number of days)
    3. Calendar days (for full 1st to 30th or 31st or in the case of February 28 or 29 days
  8. You then choose a date you want your payroll to auto run every month. 
  9. For approval method, select Auto then click Next.
  10. Now to customise your payroll. You get the option to either add ITF, NHF, NSITF, Taxes, all pensions to this payroll setup.
  11. Then in the grid below you get to divide them. It's currently divided into basic housing and transport, but you can also add other options such as other allowances.
  12. You can choose to make all of these taxable,
  13. or you can choose to make all of these pensionable and you can customise it to your needs.
  14. Now choose what percentage of your annual gross salary will go towards each of these.
  15. Remember it must add up to 100%.
  16. You'll know this when the red box at the bottom turns green like so.
  17. Once you're finished and happy with it, just click Create Payroll Setup.
  18. You then get the option to add employees to the payroll.
